Little children are often afraid of things that they do not understand…..clowns, masks, beards, jack-in-the-boxes. One little one I knew was afraid of the moon and another afraid of puppets. He will outgrow it as he understands what makes these little things move and make noise.
Because he’s 1 and doesn’t understand much about the world right now. if he’s scared of it, put it away for a month. Bring it out again and see if he likes it then. He’s going thru all sorts of phases and “forcing” him to like something he is scared of will only make him more wary and scared of it.
My son used to be scared of a car toy that made noise but now he’s fine with it. I put it away, out of sight, for months. When I brought it out I played it only when I was around so he realized there was no reason to be scared.
There will be many things your child does that you won’t understand, but you should be “understanding” about it.
